Despite Hot Temps, Rainbows Holds Brick Dedication Ceremony
Neither hot and humid weather nor falling rain could stop the second annual brick dedication and memorial garden ceremony last Thursday, August 24 at the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek.
This year’s event was moved indoors due to the unusually high temperatures. But that didn’t deter families and friends from gathering and remembering their special someone. Over 150 bricks have been installed since 2022 and all that were placed this year were recognized during Thursday’s dedication. Inspirational readings and comforting music set the tone for the moving ceremony. When the rain finally cleared, families had a chance to place flowers on their loved one’s bricks, and a double rainbow provided a beautiful backdrop.
“The memorial garden has been a labor of love for us and my personal favorite project to work on,” said Emy Miller, Rainbow’s Community Relations and Events Manager. “I was thrilled to see so many friends and family members here to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.”
Individuals and businesses have the option to purchase three different size bricks to honor loved ones or they may purchase a garden feature, such as a pergola or a bench.
