Founded in 2003, Rainbow Friends in Action is a volunteer program dedicated to providing “neighborly assistance” to people who are elderly, disabled or
seriously ill and could benefit from receiving just a little extra non-medical help in their homes in order to remain living independently.
Core services provided by Rainbow Friends in Action include:
- Friendly visits
- Shopping and errands
- Transportation to and from medical appointments, the pharmacy, church, etc.
We review other service requests on a case-by-case basis such as:
- Light housekeeping
- Meal preparation
- Yard work (raking, mowing, snow shoveling)
All Rainbow Friends in Action services are provided free of charge to recipients. Although eligibility is not based on financial need, care recipients typically live on a limited
income and have no family members, friends, or other resources available to help. Depending on the circumstances, our assistance can be short or long-term.
Rainbow Friends in Action serves all of Jefferson County as well as portions of Dodge and Walworth counties.
All Rainbow Friends in Action volunteers are screened and trained before given any assignments. Staff members work with volunteers to find projects that match their
skills and interests and volunteers always choose how, when, and where they serve.
