Rainbow Grief Support is an integral service provided by Rainbow Community Care, dedicated to helping individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one, regardless of whether they were part of the hospice program. The bereavement team offers ongoing support through one-on-one visits, phone calls, regular support groups, and unique community programming. Following last year's inaugural event, Rainbow welcomes community members to join together once again for the second annual Community Grief Walk.

All community members are invited to participate in this year's walk, which will take place at Brandt-Quirk Park in Watertown (800 Carriage Hill Dr.) on Thursday, June 4th, from 10 a.m. to noon. Interested participants will gather near the Storybook Trail, located past the baseball diamonds. Because the nature paths are not paved, comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended.

The event is designed to be highly flexible to accommodate participants' schedules and comfort levels. The guided excursions take approximately one hour, and attendees are welcome to join the group at either 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Participants are welcome to share their stories or simply walk in quiet reflection—there is absolutely no pressure to talk.

Grief is a journey that no one should have to navigate alone. Whether a loss is recent or from years past, this event offers a gentle walk in nature alongside others who understand the experience. The setting provides a unique space for quiet reflection, shared stories, and healing connections.

“Nature has a unique ability to quiet the mind and calm the nervous system during times of grief,” said Rainbow Bereavement Counselor Hilary Furnish. “During our inaugural walk last year, we watched participants find comfort in both the beauty of the woods and the shared experience of making time for their grief. We are bringing this event back to provide that same gentle, supportive space for our community again this year.”
