Rainbow Community Care Welcomes Dr. Shagun Saggar as New Medical Director
JEFFERSON, WI — Rainbow Community Care is proud to announce that Shagun Saggar, MD, has joined the organization as Medical Director. Bringing a distinguished background in hospice and palliative medicine, Dr. Saggar’s leadership is defined by a deep-seated commitment to dignity, peace, and compassionate end-of-life care.
In her role as Medical Director, Dr. Saggar provides essential clinical leadership, certifying patient eligibility for services and overseeing the development of individualized care plans that prioritize comfort and dignity. She serves as a vital resource for Rainbow’s interdisciplinary care team, offering specialized expertise in pain and symptom management while ensuring the program maintains the highest medical and ethical standards.
Dr. Saggar transitioned to the Rainbow team this past December following a series of high-impact leadership roles within the Wisconsin medical community. Most recently, she served as the Division Chief of Palliative Care Medicine at SSM Health, where she oversaw specialized programs across six hospitals. Her experience also includes serving as an Attending Physician for Inpatient Services at the University of Wisconsin, where she was instrumental in both clinical care and the mentorship of the next generation of physicians.

A Career Rooted in Connection
Dr. Saggar’s journey into hospice care began with the realization that the "power of presence" is as vital as any clinical intervention. After completing her fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, she played a pivotal role at Bayada Hospice, establishing the organization's inaugural hospice medical program in Vermont and New Hampshire.
Throughout her career, Dr. Saggar has championed a practice rooted in honesty and connection. Her role at Rainbow Community Care represents a continued dedication to ensuring that while the reality of life’s final chapter cannot be changed, the experience can be shaped by compassion and professional excellence.
