Rainbow Palliative Care Video Earns Seven National Telly Award Nominations

JEFFERSON, Wis. – Rainbow Community Care's educational video, A Guide to Palliative Care for Patients and Families, has received seven nominations in the 48th Annual Telly Awards, one of the nation's most respected competitions recognizing excellence in video and television production. The video received nominations in the categories of Health & Safety, Social Impact, Not-for-Profit, Explainer, Education & Training, Writing, and Directing.
Released as a free educational resource, the video was created to help patients, families, and healthcare providers better understand the role of palliative care in improving quality of life for individuals living with serious illness. It explains how specialized support can help patients manage symptoms, navigate complex medical decisions, communicate goals of care, and access resources that support what matters most to them.
The project was produced by Michael Bernhagen, Rainbow Community Care's Director of Business Development; co-produced by Shauna Lambrecht, FNP-C, a Nurse Practitioner with Rainbow Palliative Care; and filmed by videographer and director of photography Kurt Kuss.
"One of the greatest challenges facing patients and families today is understanding what support is available as serious illness progresses," said Bernhagen. "This video was created to help people better understand palliative care and how it can improve quality of life, support informed decision-making, and provide guidance during some of life's most difficult moments."
The Telly Awards honor excellence in video and television across all screens and receive entries from organizations, agencies, production companies, nonprofits, and storytellers from around the world. Recognition from the Telly Awards places Rainbow Community Care's educational efforts among a distinguished group of organizations committed to using media to inform and inspire audiences.
The nominations are especially meaningful for Bernhagen, who previously received two Bronze Telly Awards in 2015 with filmmaker Terry Kaldhusdal for Consider the Conversation 2: Stories about Cure, Relief, and Comfort, earning recognition in the categories of Documentary and Directing.
"While we're honored by this recognition, the real purpose of the project was education," added Lambrecht. "We hope it helps more patients, families, and healthcare providers understand how palliative care can provide support, comfort, and guidance throughout the course of a serious illness."
Most importantly, Rainbow Community Care hopes the recognition will draw greater attention to the needs of individuals and families navigating serious illness and encourage meaningful conversations about goals, values, and quality of life.
