Rainbow Plans Broken Pots Workshop in February
When someone we love dies, it’s hard.
Each person going through the journey grieves in different ways and at different paces. Often, his/her experience is non-linear, meaning emotions fluctuate with ups and downs, highs and lows, and have multiple layers to them.
Grief’s complicated nature is precisely why Rainbow Community Care provides 13 months of grief support for those left behind. The bereavement team of Laura Wessels, Hilary Furnish, and Terry Hein will be offering a free hands-on grief exercise called "Broken Pots: Exploring Our Beautiful Brokenness Through Art."
Participants will explore their grief through a hands-on activity of restoring a broken pot, inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. This activity will give attendees a new lens in understanding their grief.
“This workshop provides participants with an opportunity to explore grief through the creative process,” said Rainbow Bereavement Counselor Hilary Furnish. “In the breaking and reconstructing of their pots, space is made to acknowledge both the pain of their grief and the love they hold for the person they have lost. It becomes a tangible expression of their grief experiences and the love that continues for those who may have died.”
It will take place on Saturday, February 8th from 10 a.m. to noon in the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center- Community Room at 1225 Remmel Dr. in Johnson Creek and is open to anyone who would like to participate.
This experience has profoundly helped participants better understand their grief and find new meaning amid loss. If you or someone you know would like to attend the workshop, please call (920) 674-6255 and reserve your spot today.
