Rainbow Grief Support is one of the most important services provided by Rainbow Community Care, focusing on individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one, whether or not they are part of the hospice program. Rainbow’s bereavement team offers support through various outreach methods, including one-on-one visits, phone calls, hosting regular support groups, and offering special programs. They are now expanding their services by organizing and offering a Community Grief Walk.

All community members are invited to participate in the walk, which will take place at Brandt Quirk Park in Watertown (800 Carriage Dr.) on Thursday, June 5th, from 10 a.m. to noon. Interested participants will gather near the Storybook Trail, past the baseball diamonds. Please note that the paths are not paved, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. Everyone is welcome, and there is no pressure to talk during the walk. We expect the excursion to take around an hour and you may join at around 10 or 11 a.m.

Grief is a journey that is often easier to navigate with support. Whether you have recently lost someone or are carrying the weight of a loss from years past, you are encouraged to join Rainbow for a gentle walk in nature alongside others who understand your experience. The event will offer space for quiet reflection, shared stories, and healing connections.

“Time spent in nature can be beneficial during times of grief and loss,” said Rainbow Bereavement Counselor Hilary Furnish. “During this event, we will take a guided walk through the woods exploring different aspects of grief and learn how to incorporate time in nature to support the grieving process.”
