Rainbow Plans New Features for its Memorial Garden
Since its inception, the Memorial Garden at the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center in Johnson Creek has been growing brick-by-brick. When visitors attend Rainbow Community Care’s third annual Memorial Garden Celebration this August, there will be a new look to the outdoor space.
For the first time ever, outdoor furniture is available to purchase for families and friends who want to honor or remember their loved ones. Chairs, benches, a picnic table, and a loveseat-style glider have all been added as purchase options to a list, which already includes bricks, benches, and pergolas.
Rainbow first unveiled a beautiful outdoor space in 2022. The peaceful and serene setting is designed for families, friends, and other community members to gather and remember the special people in their lives. Some of these individuals are loved ones who have passed away on Rainbow’s services, and some are veterans who served our country in the Armed Forces. Others are notable men and women from the community, like Nancy Lee Hall, a member of the original planning committee that founded Rainbow Hospice Care in 1990.
In just two years, over 150 bricks have been sold, engraved, and placed along a winding path that connects all areas of the memorial garden. Benches, a pergola, a fire pit, and a water feature have also been added to the space to make it even more inviting and welcoming for families and visitors.
“Our goal with the Memorial Garden was to create a comfortable outdoor space for members of the community to gather and remember their loved ones,” said Emy Miller, Rainbow’s Community Relations and Events Manager. “I am thrilled to see so many people celebrating the lives of others by purchasing bricks, benches, and other outdoor features.”
Rainbow will hold its third annual Memorial Garden Celebration at the inpatient center on Thursday, August 22, 2024. Anyone can make a donation to the garden or purchase a brick. Your friend or family member doesn’t have to be a past or current Rainbow patient. Bricks are available in three different sizes and range from $250-$1,000. Garden features, including outdoor furniture, can also be purchased online at RainbowCommunityCare.org/News-And-Events/ or by calling (920) 674-6255.
