The Ageless Heart of Thursdays: Celebrating Jane Ingersoll at 96

If you happen to walk into the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center (IPC) on a Thursday afternoon, you’ll likely be greeted by a warm and welcoming presence at the reception desk. That’s Jane Ingersoll, and despite what your eyes might tell you, she did indeed just celebrate her 96th birthday last Thursday. Yes…that’s not a typo, she is actually 96 years old.
It is a milestone that continues to spark a bit of friendly disbelief among our staff and visitors. With her vibrant energy and friendly nature, Jane remains the gold standard for what it means to stay active and purposeful, proving that age is truly just a number.
Seven Years of Service
Jane first joined the Rainbow family in 2019 as a quilting volunteer. However, sitting at home with a needle and thread wasn't enough for her. By 2020, her desire to be “more involved” brought her to the front desk at the IPC, and this April, she will officially celebrate seven years of being an integral part of our volunteer team.

A Birthday Surprise
Just as she was a year ago, Jane was showered with affection by the IPC team. While Chef Josh Rosburg’s treats are always a highlight, the real gift is the atmosphere Jane creates for everyone she meets. Jane isn't just a volunteer; she is a fixture of the IPC family who gives so much of her time to others.
Whether she is directing a nervous family member to the right room or sharing a laugh with the nursing staff, Jane proves every Thursday that passion and purpose are the best ways to stay young at heart.
Happy 96th Birthday, Jane! We are so lucky to have you.
