Rainbow Volunteer Celebrates 95th Birthday
Jane Ingersoll is a familiar face around the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center (IPC). She volunteers to work our reception desk on Thursday afternoons, directing visitors to the right place and answering any questions they may have.
“She greets all our visitors and makes sure they feel welcome and know that we are taking excellent care of their loved ones.” said Rainbow Volunteer Coordinator Jill Radke
Jane turns 95 today, January 15th, and IPC Chef Josh Rosburg surprised her with a plate of cupcakes last week. Several staff members also stopped by to see her and offer her some birthday wishes.
Jane started as a quilting volunteer for Rainbow in 2019, but by the next year, she decided that she wanted to be more involved and completed her Hospice Training in 2021. She has also participated in our volunteer Pen Pal program for the past couple of years. Jane comes each Thursday to work a regular shift at the reception desk, and the staff looks forward to her arrival. In 2014, Jane’s husband passed away on Rainbow’s service, and she made a lovely quilt square to honor him. Jane will celebrate her 6th anniversary with Rainbow in April.
“If you are ever having trouble with the crossword puzzle in the volunteer room, you know it’s Jane to the rescue! We love her because she has a great sense of humor, is so very stylish, and can talk about anything.” Radke said.
