by: Rainbow Hospice Foundation
When the Rainbow Hospice Care Inpatient Center first opened its doors in March 2011, the idea of a comforting space for families to gather together outdoors was not something we had the funds to pursue at the time. But families visiting their loved ones at the Inpatient Center would greatly benefit from an outdoor space on our grounds to gather for contemplation, reflection, tranquility, and healing.
Creating an outdoor memorial garden has become a focal point for our outdoor remodeling project. While working with McKay Nursery, it became clear that several additions were necessary, including additional walkways, bricks, meditative spots and more importantly, a pathway that is wide enough to accommodate wheelchairs, walkers, and other devices.
The pandemic has highlighted the need for a comfortable outdoor respite space for patients and their families. Funding of this project will provide an opportunity for families to moralize their loved ones and leave a lasting imprint at our inpatient center. We're currently on a journey to raise a minimum of $150,000.
We hope this restful spot will include a pergola, benches, and a water feature. This sacred place besides will provide a beautiful backdrop of plants and shrubs for reflection and solitude. This outdoor memorial garden will be a gift for our entire community!
